The card on the piano invites pianist visitors to play this beautiful instrument which stands in the huge galleried entrance hall. As nobody was around I persuaded a reluctant Judith to play, so, from memory we had a splendid rendering of Schubert’s ‘To Music’ which carried to the ceiling. When she finished there was silence and then applause from visitors and the Hall guides who had left their wanderings to gather around the gallery to listen. Magic!
