Experiemental Portraits and Landscapes
The course is an ongoing exploration into Experimental Landscapes and Portraits using a variety of exciting mark-making techniques, including mono-printing, mixed-media and expressive ink drawing. The emphasis is on playful experimentation and unexpected outcomes. Each student is introduced to a variety of techniques and encouraged to develop their individual creative style. Some students use the course short term, as a means to refresh ideas. Others have been coming for years and use the space and time to develop their skills further, create their own visual language and produce a wide range of exciting pieces. The possibilities are endless and the results are very exciting indeed.
FABRIC FLOWERS & EMBELLISHMENTS
Learn and experiment with a range of textiles to produce a wide variety of samples using techniques such as, macrame, cording, tassle-making, ribbon folding and many others.
Come away at the end of the day with useful samples which can be used as fascinator, clothing, accessory and hair decorations. Last of all , enjoy yourself in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
TEXTILES FOR CRAFTING
Learning and experimenting whilst producing a range of useful textile pieces using marbling, printing, embellishing and colouring techniques in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

This interactive one day course demonstrates diversity in the way of walking, art, music and discussion. Candidates will start the course with a 2 hour walk around London, followed by 1 discussion and presentation on diversity with diversity. The course will demonstrate how art, music and words have shaped our thinking.

The adage “A picture is worth a thousand words” refers to the idea that a complex idea can be conveyed with just a single still image. It also aptly characterizes one of the main goals of visualization, namely making it possible to absorb large amounts of data quickly.

Encaustic Painting
A one day beginner’s workshop for a maximum of two people, inclusive of all materials.
You will learn how to prime, fuse, paint melted coloured wax and how to use tools to manipulate the wax surface.
You will come away with your very own encaustic artwork on cradled board, ready to hang at home.
Mosaic Workshop long weekend
2 or 4 days mosaic workshop at the wonderful Ammerdown centre. Residential or non-residential.
Mosaic Workshop Weekend
Direct mosaic workshop for beginners and improvers. We will use glass and ceramic mosaic tiles and stained glass. Expect to make a piece approx A4 size. Option to come to one day only.
Indoor Mosaic Class
16th and 17th November 2012. Learn the techniques of cutting and nipping tiles and other ceramic items to create several pieces of mosaic art. This art holiday will give you the basic skills to create wall panels and mirror frames in the class and give you the courage to extend your skills once at home
Shadow Box Making
COST £7.50 - this covers a choice of a glass fronted square or rectangular box in a choice of finishes and all the materials you need to complete the box, like background papers and contents e.g.keys, watch parts, doll parts, lace, etc. *
Paints, sandpaper and adhesives will be supplied to use during the workshop.
The aim of this workshop it to show you how to alter the box finishes (if required), how to prepare and apply backgrounds (building collaged backgrounds, distressing/tinting papers etc) and how to arrange, alter and attach your chosen objects.
Please feel free to bring along memorabilia, photographs and objects that are meaningful to you that you would like to include for backgrounds and/or contents (however, as the alteration and attachment will permanently affect and alter these, it is advisable to use photocopies and duplicate prints of photographs and to use objects that you are prepared to alter, even if it is only by the application of glue…).
(*Extra boxes and contents, plus higher value vintage accessories (e.g. hat pins, lace bobbins) will also be available to purchase at extra cost; )
Drawing & Painting for beginners/improvers
A course that takes the student through the basics of drawing and observation and moves on to experiment in different media to develop their own way of working
Easy 2D Garden Mosaics
Sat 16th March & Sunday 17th March 2013
This weekend introduces you to two possible methods of making mosaics for your garden walls and fences, so planning for summer but in the comfort of a local studio. Vouchers available should you wish to give a place on this course as a gift.

Garden Sculpture in Mosaic
Monday 6th May - Friday 10th May 2013. A 5-day class, starting on the Sunday evening, where you will be creating the sculptural forms on which you will then mosaic. You will complete three pieces; teaching you three different techniques for creating the substrate. The one garden sculpture will be one which can stand in a flower bed or over a pond; an other will be one to hang from a tree.
