Atelier Atlântico - art courses and workshops on the sunny Algarve
Atelier Atlãntico is located in the countryside of the Costa Vicentina, in the West-Algarve, far away from mass tourism.
Here, German Prof. Magdalena, teaches you everything you want to know and be able to do, regarding painting, drawing and graphics.
We have a program of 1 or 2 week holiday courses with accomodation available, aswell as weekly workshops.

Painting & photography
All the courses offered are tailor made to suit an individual or couples needs but genrally the curriculum would be made up from some or all of the following aspects, depending on the course duration: a)Learning to use soft artists pastels on a one to one basis. b)Mastering the techniques of Pen& Ink Wash.c)How to apply Acrylics in thin build up layers.d)Enhancing your photographic composition such that you can use your own photographs as reference points for successful drawing and painting.
From a hole in the ground
Come to the Algarve, travel with me to a a Terracotta quary and learn how to work with wonderful rough surfaced clay. Stay in a beautiful country house all set up for artists. The Algarve provides perfect conditions for working in clay with 350 days of sunshine a year and when not working go the beach nearby and or stroll among the orange groves surrounding the area. Perfect bliss.
Gargoyle or Angel mask making for carnival
Techniques in making simple light-weight masks using recycled materials where possible.
The Short Course is five two hour sessions and teaches simple construction techniques using cardboard, paper and fabric collage, making either a full head or half head mask.
The Long Course is ten two hour sessions and demonstrates making a laminated paper cast over a clay model, creating a full head helmet character mask with an acrylic painted surface finish.
The Short Course is costed at £7 per person/session.
The Long Course is costed at £7 per person/session.

Making a Gargoyle or Angel processional puppet
Techniques in making giant rod or back pack puppets for carnival processions, using recycled materials where possible.
The Short Course is five two hour sessions, teaches simple construction techniques with willow, bamboo, cardboard and fabric painting decoration, making a large rod puppet.
The Long Course is up to eight two hour sesions, teaches simple construction techniques using willow, bamboo, cardboard and fabric painting decoration, making a back pack puppet.
The short course is costed at £7 per person/session.
There are 10 places available starting on 24 January 2009 at 2pm, running to February 21st.
The long course is costed at £7 per person/session.
There are 10 places available starting on February 28 at 10am, running to 18 April.

Making Big Head Gargoyles or Angel for carnival.

Enamelling for Beginners
Learn the basics of enamelling onto copper £35:00 per session. Wednesdays 9:00am - 1:00pm. Lunch available if required 1:00pm - 2:00pm (between £2:00 - £6:00 depending on choice of food)
Printmaking at Sussex Sculpture Studios
We offer open access to our printmaking facilities throughout the week for those with experience. We also run a regular Tuesday evening class for those interested in learning printmaking. We will take students through many printmaking disciplines, including mono-print, collograph, drypoint and etching. Come and join the fun. Free parking, all abilities welcome. Adult Art Class
For adults of all abilities, even complete beginners.
Have fun developing your drawing and painting skills in a small friendly group.
Start anytime as individual programs are available and everyone can work at their own pace.
